A New Year? What Next....

Hello Friend,

Well that went fast! It seems every year gets faster the older I get which is a quiet tap on the shoulder to savor and become intentional about making memories. We are on the precipice of another new year - WOWZER!! How was 2024 for you? Like many of us I find it useful at this time of year to pause and take stock of what has gone before and what is up ahead. It's so easy to fall into the trap of beating ourselves up over all the things we didn't quite pull off or could have done better. As human as this is I encourage you, as I do myself, to look through a lens of love toward yourself. To be kind. There is a lot about life that is a mystery but I do think I have figured out that as long as we fight the good fight and keep moving forward then that is enough to give yourself a big pat on the back. 

You made that meal for your family instead of getting take out - pat on the back

You finished another pile of endless washing another week of the year- pat on the back

You set some goals and achieved some of them- pat on the back

You kept turning up for yourself, your friends and your family- big pat on the back

You refuse to give up on your health even when the scale doesn't budge- Pat on the back

I've come to realize success in life is not just the big fanfare wins but it is as much about all the little wins, all the daily things we do that make a positive impact on the lives of ourselves and others. 

Recently I was watching on as my two little ones playing and felt such immense love for them. I had a moment where I realized that I was like them too - just as special, just as significant and that I need to love myself with the same kindness and steadfastness as I do my children. My point is - we are not children, we are all grown up BUT if you look at yourself through a posture of the loving eyes of a mother or father you may just see yourself in a whole different light. You may just pat yourself on the back and count all those little wins. Have an amazing peaceful and joy filled new year and we'll speak soon.
